Calling all creatives! The Melrose Center is accepting entries for the 2018 Melrose Awards. A $250 Prize will be awarded to winners in five categories! A $1000 Prize will be awarded to the Grand Prize winner!
On Saturday, February 17, 2018, the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center will celebrate its fourth anniversary by hosting the Melrose Creative Expo. The Orange County Library System is pleased to announce the fourth annual Melrose Awards to encourage and recognize creative efforts.
The submission period for the contest is from September 1 - November 22 (date is subject to change).
The voting period for this contest will take place from December 1 - December 23 (date is subject to change).

First Prize Winners in each category receive $250. Second and Third Prize Winners in each category are recognized in Library web and print publicity.
Category winners are determined by the following criteria: public vote, usage of the Melrose Center and independent expert evaluation. The top three contestants will be notified ahead of the Melrose Creative Expo, with each Category Winner announced during the opening ceremonies at the Expo.
Each Category Winner is eligible to win the Grand Prize of $1000.
The Grand Prize is awarded at the discretion of the Friends of the Orange County Library System's Board of Directors and Library System Managers. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced at the Melrose Creative Expo immediately following the announcement of the Category Winners.
All contestants must have an Orange County Library Card or a Melrose Card in good standing.
All contestants must have attended the Melrose Center General Orientation.
The contest is open to all ages. Entries for contestants under the age of 18 must be submitted by a parent or guardian.
Entries must be the original work of the contestants and must be created at least in part in the Melrose Center.
Contestants may submit one entry in each category.
An entry can be created by two or more people, but the submission must be made by a designated adult member of the group who has completed the Melrose Center General Orientation.
Entries serving as crowdsourcing tools will not be accepted.
Projects must be submitted in the form of a web address that points directly to the image, audio file, video, etc. Access to the file must not require the use of a login.
OCLS staff members and immediate family are not eligible to enter the contest.
The Library is not responsible for lost or damaged work.
The Library reserves the right to disqualify an entry.
The Library reserves the right not to have an award winner in any given category or overall.
Winners will be announced on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Melrose Creative Expo. Category Finalists must be present at the Melrose Creative Expo to win.
