THE DOROTHY LUMLEY MELROSE CENTER

On Saturday, February 11, 2017, the Melrose Center will celebrate its third anniversary by hosting the Melrose Creative Expo. The Orange County Library System is pleased to announce the third annual Melrose Awards to encourage creativity and recognize those creative efforts.

SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED

The submission period for the contest is from September 5 - November 23 (date is subject to change).

PUBLIC VOTING

The voting period for this contest will take place from November 28 - December 18 (date is subject to change).

GRAND PRIZE WINNER: $1,000

1st Prize Winner in each category: $250

2nd and 3rd Prize Winners in each category will be recognized in library web and print publicity

The winners of each category are determined by the following criteria: public vote, expert opinions and collective use of the Melrose Center. The winner of each category is a semi-finalist for the grand prize which is awarded at the discretion of the Friends of the Orange County Library System's Board of Directors. Popular voting will take place online. To increase the number of possible votes, participants are encouraged to share their submission(s) through social media networks.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

All contestants must have an Orange County Library Card or a Melrose Card in good standing.

All contestants must have attended the Melrose Center General Orientation.


CONTEST RULES

1

This contest is open to Melrose Center users of all ages. Entries for contestants under the age of 18 must be submitted by a parent or guardian.

All contestants must have created some or all of their submission at the Melrose Center.

Contestants may submit one entry in each category.

Entries must be the original work of the contestant.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Melrose Creative Expo. Finalists must be present at the Melrose Creative Expo to win.

Contestants grant the library permission to display and photograph the submitted work for publicity purposes.

The Library is not responsible for lost or damaged work.

Projects must be submitted in the form of a Web address that points directly to the image, video, audio file, etc. Access to the project must not require the use of a login.

The Library reserves the right to disqualify an entry.

10

OCLS staff members and immediate family are not eligible to enter the competition.

The Library reserves the right not to make an award in any given category or overall.
